Melanie Billimek Cowan, DDS

Dr. Melanie grew up in Moulton, Texas where she graduated from Moulton High School in 1998. After high school, she studied at the University of Texas at Austin and obtained a degree in Chemistry in 2002. Melanie graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center - San Antonio in 2006 and then spent one year in residency at UTHSCSA furthering her knowledge of General Dentistry.

Dr. Melanie associated with two other practices before purchasing and opening Shiner Dental, PLLC in Shiner, Texas in July 2010. Family is very important to Melanie and that philosophy is evident because Shiner Dental, PLLC is built around the premise of family first. We want to be regarded as an integral, trusted part of the family to our local patients when it comes to their dental needs. We will offer top quality, professional service, with small town hospitality.

Melanie enjoys spending time with friends and family. She thoroughly loves her job and is married to Bobby Cowan, originally of Shiner, and they have a daughter, Camille.

Cheryl is the office manager at Shiner Family Dental.  She has been active in the dental field since 2008 and enjoys her job because she always gets to meet new people while seeing familiar faces.

Cheryl enjoys fishing and watching football and basketball. She also loves to spend time with family and friends.  Cheryl also likes anything outdoors, cooking, and shopping.

Cheryl is engaged to Jonathan Pesek and will be married next year.

Alice loves dentistry.  She worked part time as an dental assistant for two years while in high school and one and a half years as a dental lab technician while in college.  She discovered the field of dental hygiene and has been a dental hygienist for 39 years with the last 26 here in Shiner.

Patient comfort is always foremost on Alice's mind and she accomplishes this by working diligently to make the experience as pleasant as possible.  Alice likes the people from the Shiner area and has made many friends over the years being their hygienist and she hopes to make many more.

Alice and her husband Ralph grew up and live in Yoakum.  They have three children and three grandchildren which are the loves of their lives.  Alice also enjoys craftwork, sewing and gardening.

Lisa is Dr. Melanie's dental assistant. Lisa brings 20 years of experience to the practice and loves her job because it enables her to help others.

Fishing, spending time with her family and attending sporting events is what Lisa enjoys in her off hours.  She and her husband Harold have three children, Cullen, Hannah, and Sarah.

Mary Ann is Dr. Melanie's mom, and she brings over 12 years of experience as a small business owner to the table to help keep operations running smoothly.  She also is a former EMT and is learning the ins and outs of the dental office too. 

Mary Ann enjoys her job because she gets to help others and gets to work closely with her daughter Melanie. 

For fun, Mary Ann enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping at Canton and going to Rockport.  She also enjoys spending time with her husband, but mostly, spoiling her granddaughter Camille.
